Hot air and strong sun make fragrance evaporate faster, which is why a perfume that lasts all day in Europe can disappear by lunchtime in Dubai. The good news: the Gulf has a long tradition of making scent last, and most of it comes down to where you apply perfume, what you apply under it, and which fragrance family you choose.
Quick answer
To make perfume last longer in the UAE: apply it to moisturised skin straight after a shower, spray pulse points and clothing, layer it over a matching oud oil, finish with a hair mist, and choose fragrances with a woody, amber or oud base. Keep the bottle out of the car and away from sunlight.
1. Start with hydrated skin
Fragrance clings to oils. Dry skin lets it evaporate quickly, while skin that has just been moisturised with an unscented lotion holds it for longer. The best moment is right after a shower, when the skin is still slightly warm.
2. Spray the right places
- Pulse points: the inside of the wrists, the base of the throat and behind the ears. They are warm, so they release the scent gently through the day.
- Clothing and the ghutra or shayla: fabric holds fragrance much longer than skin. Spray from about 15 cm away.
- Hair: hair carries scent beautifully, but alcohol can dry it. Use a dedicated mist such as our Fantastic or Cute Cat hair and body mists instead.
Avoid rubbing your wrists together. It does not “break” the perfume, but the friction warms the top notes and makes them fade faster.
3. Layer: oil first, perfume second
Layering is the Gulf secret to long-lasting fragrance. A drop of concentrated perfume oil (dehn al oud) under your spray gives the alcohol-based perfume something to hold on to.
- Apply a small amount of oud oil, for example Sheikh Zayed Oud Oil or White Musk Oud Oil, to the wrists and neck.
- Wait a minute, then spray your eau de parfum on top.
- Finish with a hair mist, and perfume your clothes with bakhoor before you dress if you have time.

4. Choose fragrance families that last
Light citrus top notes are refreshing but they fly off first. Fragrances built on woods, amber, oud, musk and vanilla stay on the skin much longer. A few examples from our collection:
| Perfume | Family | Base notes |
|---|---|---|
| Sheikh Zayed | Oriental floral | Amber, guaiac wood, oud |
| Dubai Sheikh | Oriental woody | Guaiac wood, patchouli, oakmoss, ambergris |
| Gazab | Vanilla | Musk, vanilla, benzoin |
| Gemini | Oriental floral | Amber, white musk, sandalwood, vanilla |
| Single Shadow | Smoky leather | Leather, musk |
If you prefer something fresh for summer days, pick a fresh scent with a strong base, such as Barari Al Khaleej (bergamot and pineapple over oakmoss, ambergris and musk), and layer it with a light oil.
5. Store perfume properly
Heat and light damage fragrance. Never leave a bottle in the car, where temperatures in summer can be extreme. Keep it in its box, in a cool cupboard. For the office or travel, carry a mini perfume instead of the full bottle.
6. Reapply smartly
Even the strongest perfume softens after several hours in the heat. A mini in your bag or a touch of oud oil before an evening event refreshes the scent without overdoing it.

High temperatures speed up evaporation, and dry indoor air-conditioning dries the skin. Fresh citrus notes are affected most, while woody, amber and oud bases last longer.
Both. Skin warms the perfume and releases it, while fabric holds it for much longer. Spray pulse points and your clothing from about 15 cm away.
Yes. Apply a small amount of oud oil first, wait a minute, then spray the perfume on top. Oud and musk oils pair well with most oriental, woody and floral perfumes.
In a cool, dark place, ideally in its box. Avoid bathrooms with heat and steam, and never leave perfume in a parked car.
